The Governing Body of Green Park  plays a crucial role in the life and work of our school. It is made up of 7 volunteers from the local and wider community, plus the Headteacher and a member of staff. Their diversity of expertise and views contributes to positive and effective governance.

The school  governing body holds 4 full governing body meetings each year. It is supported by a sub-committee structure which enables small groups of governors to look in more detail at finances and the curriculum. There are two  sub-committees that meet once a term - Quality of Education plus Finance, Staffing and Premises Committee. Pay Review committee and Headteacher Performance Review committee meet once a year to scrutinise staff performance and pay progression.

Some governors are assigned a link role for a specific area within the school and these include the two statutory roles  of safeguarding and SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).

The Governor role is  strategic rather than operational. This means Governors do not get involved in the day to day running of the school. Instead, they support and challenge the school's leadership team to drive school improvement.

Governors have three core duties:

  • Plan the strategic direction of the school
  • Oversee financial performance of the school and ensure the money is well-spent
  • Hold the school leadership team to account
